YARDBIRD PAVILION

The YardBird Pavilion is a conceptual project located in Imperial Beach California. The concept derived from the idea of creating a commercial marketplace / public space that encourages the ability to adapt to the users needs and program.

The program host varies uses from yoga studios, educational meeting rooms, local wine/beer tastings, rentable office space, art galleries, private parties, community planning, and event screening.

The ground level serves as a open community gathering space with a grid of columns that support the modules above. The retrofitted shipping containers located on level two serve as adaptable rental able spaces. The common deck connection the two sides of containers act as a central promenade for users to interact and flow throughout the space.

For maximun flexibility, we placed the containers on re-prepursed railroad tracks, giving them the ability to slide back and forth which will redefine the square footages of the rentable space based on the users needs.
